Denied SSI Reconsideration - What's Next?

Question: My SSI Request For Reconsideration was denied. What's next?

Answer: Don't give up! Now is the time you can request a hearing. At this point your SSI case leaves the state system and is heard by an administrative law judge (ALJ). At your SSI disability hearing the ALJ has the opportunity to independently hear your case. The ALJ is not bound by the earlier decision.

Typically your hearing is held (depending on where you live) between 6-30 months from the date you request the hearing. This gives you plenty of time to assemble you case and reach out to an experience Social Security lawyer. Click for a SSI disability information guide. SSI Application Denied

Was your SSI application denied? Did you know a SSI denied application occurs more often than not? It can be frustrating, but remember not to give up! There is an appeal process for SSI applications.

If you receive an SSI denial, remember that you have several options. First you can submit a Request for Reconsideration. If this is also denied (it is reviewed by the same people that originally denied your claim), you have an option to appear in front of an Administrative Law Judge at a Social Security Disability Hearing.

Remember, the earlier you get a Social Security lawyer involved, the faster the process can be affected. Below are some links and a website you can visit to receive a free case evaluation.
