Denied SSI Reconsideration - What's Next?

Question: My SSI Request For Reconsideration was denied. What's next?

Answer: Don't give up! Now is the time you can request a hearing. At this point your SSI case leaves the state system and is heard by an administrative law judge (ALJ). At your SSI disability hearing the ALJ has the opportunity to independently hear your case. The ALJ is not bound by the earlier decision.

Typically your hearing is held (depending on where you live) between 6-30 months from the date you request the hearing. This gives you plenty of time to assemble you case and reach out to an experience Social Security lawyer. Click for a SSI disability information guide.
